CAFOD

cafodCAFOD stands for the Catholic Agency For Overseas Development. They are an international development charity and the official aid agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales.

CAFOD helps and supports people living in poverty – whatever their religion or culture. Through local Church partners, they help people directly in their own communities and campaign for global justice, so that everyone can reach their full potential. In Stanford-Le-Hope we raise funds for CAFOD eg by donating money raised during our Lentern Fast.

MARY'S MEALS

marys mealsMary's Meals is a charity set up to provide children with a daily meal in their place of education in the poorest parts of our world. Currently they are feeding over a million children. It cost £13.90 to feed a child for a year! In our parish we are supporting the charity with our Christmas appeal of 'setting a place at the table for Christmas' and our Mary's Meals penny jars. Last year we raised enough to feed 100 children for a year.

MISSIO

missioThe Catholic Church's Official Charity for Overseas Mission

Since 1922, Missio has been the Catholic Church's official charity for overseas mission. We bring the hope of the Gospel where there is turmoil, poverty and uncertainty in the world, and where the Church is new, young or poor.

Missio empowers local people to form and sustain communities of faith and we train and nurture future leaders so that the vital work of the Church in the world can take place. In Stanford-Le-Hope we raise money by taking home a red box and putting regular donations or loose change into the box.
