Thurrock Foodbank
From: Newall Peter [mailto:peternewall@thurrock.foodbank.org.uk] Sent: 12 June 2025 14:52 Subject: Weekly Wire Good afternoon to you all. Continuing the theme of Volunteers week, recognising their hard work, please see a few more pictures of our wonderful teams operating across our warehouse and centres. These people really make Thurrock Foodbank what it is "Thurrock people helping Thurrock people". A special mention goes to Katie Bridge (middle picture of the collage), Katie volunteers at our Warehouse on Wednesdays and also oversees the running of our Purfleet Distribution Centre. Katie epitomises the dedication of a volunteer by her commitment, hard work and positive attitude with no task is too much trouble for her. Katie hard work was rewarded by being given a Thurrock CVS Volunteer award at a reception last Friday. The award was presented by Thurrock MP Jen Craft who personally congratulated each volunteer and thanked them for their remarkable service. On Monday we will be able to say a proper "Thank You" to all our volunteers at a "Thank You afternoon Tea" hosted by our friends at Treetops School. Over the past couple of weeks we have been able to help some families with more than just food. Utilising our network of contacts we have sourced some white goods and our teams have been able to deliver them. EAch week our teams turn up not knowing what to expect and for some people "these are life changing moments". Each week our teams provide an environment that provides "Hope for a better future". One lady who recently fled domestic violence, stated "If i knew what help and support I was going to receive, I would have left sooner". It is amazing what our teams face each week, and they all respond in such a way, that can be life changing for the people of Thurrock, so a huge Thank you to each and everyone, your work is life changing. An exciting week for us next week, saying Thank you to our volunteers, and on Wednesday Ceri, Andy and myself will be travelling to Westminster to meet with the two Thurrock MP's on a national Lobby day organised by Trussell. We will discuss Governmental support for our local communities,
