Subject: Weekly Wire
Good afternoon,
Thank you to all those that have sent condolences to us regarding the recent passing of Margaret Watts, we have passed them onto Helen and Alan, and I know they give some comfort at this sad time. We are keeping them in our thoughts and prayers at this sad time.
Having been at the festival at the weekend, where sadly someone lost their life, it demonstrates how life is fragile and how that everything can be taken from us in an instant. Many who we meet at our centres have seen what they had taken away, sometimes through poor decisions and sometimes through a change in circumstances, illness, bereavement, an accident, fleeing a domestic situation. Whatever the circumstances, what helps people get through these tough times is to have someone alongside them supporting them through. This is what makes our work so important as people often don't know where to go for help, so our teams being there for them is crucial to give them the help and support for their situation, and we have seen lives changed as a result.
Currently demand is 3% up on the same period last year, and our teams continue to make up and deliver food parcels to our centres to ensure we support those in need across Thurrock.
We also have met with our referrals Tenants Advice who are new agency that help those in Private rent with any property issues, also with Liz the lead for Citizens Advice in Essex, where we were able to discuss our partnership and how we can benefit our working relationship to ensure the best possible service for our residents.
Please do have a read of our September Newsletter to find out more about some exciting things that have been happening over the summer and how businesses have been supporting us.
As always, a huge thank you to everyone who continues to donate, volunteer and support Thurrock Foodbank. We simply couldn’t do what we do without you.
