Thurrock Foodbank
Despite the longer dark nights, it seems it is still not big coat weather just yet, the Christmas films are now on daily, yet we are still in shirt sleeves! This week has been again busy, with our new centre in Grays is still seeing a steady flow of people, as are many of our centres, and they seem to be needed with many of the people that we are seeing coming to us for the first time. This week it has been about meeting with other groups in Thurrock on how best we can collaborate. On Monday it was an interfaith group, where we were able to discuss with the Council's CEO about our work and current issues we have regarding storage. Today we were at the Thurrock Stronger Together conference, again discussion collaborations with other organisations across Thurrock and about how we can integrate a younger group of volunteers through various roles including IT, digital media and the use of AI. This may seem scary but there is certainly some opportunities to embrace and explore. A huge Thanks must go to Ceri and all those that have helped in the warehouse over the past few weeks. From an area looking full and chaotic with limited space for our teams to work, back to an area that is organised and maximises the use of the limited space we have. A HUGE Well Done and a massive Thank You to everyone that helped, it really is very much appreciated. I know many have gone home totally exhausted! TESCO WINTER FOOD COLLECTION: with 2 weeks to go our annual Tesco Winter Food Collection is fast approaching with only two weeks to go and our preparations are going well. The collection will run from Thursday 27 November – Saturday 29 November in Tesco Extra at Lakeside. Thank you to all those that have signed up, and we believe we have full teams for the Thursday and Friday. Unfortunately we are still struggling to fill some slots on Saturday 29th November. If you can spare an hour or two, as an individual or as a small group we would love you to come and join our team. As the demand is continuous, we still have some low stocks on some of our most basic items that are required to make up a food parcel. These items are: Fruit Juice Soups (meat & Vegetable) Desserts (Custard, Rice Pudding, Jellies, Sponge Puddings, Tinned Fruit) Mashed Potato Tinned Fish Coffee
We really value your support with any donations whether it be by a financial donation or a food donation, we really do appreciate any donation, however large or small, as the saying goes. "Every Little Helps" It all goes towards our work seeking to bless the community of Thurrock
If you require any further information or would to discuss any aspect of our work in more detail, please do not hesitate to contact me,
Thank you so much for your support
Wishing you a good week ahead 2-4 Chase Road, Corringham, Essex, SS17 7QH

As always a busy week in the life of Thurrock Foodbank, As the nights draw in and people have lights and their heating on, we seem to see an increase in demand with many of centres seeing more people coming through their doors. Even our new centre in Grays served 7 people, bearing in mind this only the 4th week we have been open! It is lovely to welcome some new volunteers and we also have someone on work experience, which is good to see the insight to what actually goes into running a foodbank An earlier than normal start preparing the way for a film crew to arrive. We were joined by a team from Trussell, Deliveroo to film a Christmas Campaign with a Deliveroo Elf. We certainly had some interest from our neighbours. It was great to see some of our volunteers getting involved. Added to this we had a very large donation from our friends at Amazon. This required our team two go twice to collect the donation and our volunteers were busy here at the warehouse sorting the donations. We are so grateful that they stayed longer to help sort the donations, it really was appreciated. A really long hard day's work! It was good we could all have some fun along the way. Hopefully we will be able to share some pictures with you next week. Thank you to all who have started our Reverse Advent Calendar, this is a really good way for us to collect Christmas related items to ensure those struggling across Thurrock As the demand is continuous, we still have some low stocks on some of our most basic items that are required to make up a food parcel. These items are:
Fruit Juice Soups (meat & Vegetable) Desserts (Custard, Rice Pudding, Jellies, Sponge Puddings) Mashed Potato Tinned Fish
