Good afternoon everyone,

As some of you are aware we have opened a new centre on a Monday at Grays Methodist Church. When a new location is launched it always takes a few weeks to establish itself. However with the new Grays Centre we have really hit the ground running with a steady flow of people coming to our new centre.

It has been a real eye opening reconfirming to us the need of being available to people to provide them help in their situations.

I am often asked if people abuse our system. The simple answer is yes, but it is a very small percentage of the people we serve. In the past few weeks working with our friends at Thurrock Council we have identified 3 families that have more than sufficient income from the benefits system, and that they do not need to use a foodbank. These families have been informed that they have sufficient income and do not need an emergency foodparcel. This helps ensure we have integrity in our process and we are able to give our time supporting people that really do need our support.

It has been really lovely again visiting primary schools meeting with the young people in their assemblies. They really do ask some great challenging questions.

Despite all our Harvest donations, donations are down approximately 13% on the same time last year. Certain items of stock remain low and we are still appealing for donations as the demand continues.  We still have some low stocks on some of our most basic items that are required to make up a food parcel.

These items are:
Cordial/ Squash

Fruit Juice
Soups (meat & Vegetable)
Desserts (Custard, Rice Pudding, Jellies, Sponge Puddings)
Mashed Potato
Tinned Fruit (is completely out)
Tinned Fish
Chocolate
Coffee

We really value your support with any donations whether it be by a financial donation or a food donation, we really do appreciate any donation, however large or small, as the saying goes. "Every Little Helps" It all goes towards our work seeking to bless the community of Thurrock

If you require any further information or would to discuss any aspect of our work in more detail, please do not hesitate to contact me,

Thank you so much for your support

Have a good week
