Good afternoon,

As we are now into September, the schools are now back and harvest time is fast approaching, the schools are booking in their Harvest collections and school assemblies. At this time it is a good opportunity to reflect on the work we have done so far this year serving 4,845 people 2,172 of which were children since 1st January 2025.

We are so Thankful for all we have as well as taking the opportunity to thank you all for your ongoing support of the work of Thurrock Foodbank. Your generosity makes a real difference in the lives of families and individuals across our community.

Please find attached our September Newsletter giving you updates on what's going on and upcoming events involving Thurrock Foodbank.

Sadly donations are still lower than usual despite a continual demand. This means your support — whether through donations, volunteering, or spreading the word to change the perceptions of of our work is more vital than ever, to help us meet the continued demand for our services.

We are still short of volunteers for our Morrisons Food Drive @ the Morrisons store in London Road, Grays. If you are able to spare an hour or two during that week, it would be very much appreciated, please do contact: admin@thurrock.foodbank.org.uk for more information.

We are still appealing for donations to help replenish our stock as the demand is continuous, and we have some low stocks on some of our most basic items.

Tinned Meats (curry's, Stew, Spaghetti Bolognese etc)

Soups (meat & Vegetable)
Desserts (Custard, Rice Pudding, Jellies, Sponge Puddings)
Mashed Potato
Tinned Fish
Chocolate
Tea & Coffee

We really value your support with any donations whether it be by a financial donation or a food donation, we really do appreciate any donation, however large or small, as the saying goes. "Every Little Helps" It all goes towards our work seeking to bless the community of Thurrock

If you require any further information or would to discuss any aspect of our work in more detail, please do not hesitate to contact me,

Thank you so much for your support

Good afternoon to you all,

Hope you are all well,

A varied week across our centres this week with Tilbury, South Ockendon, and Purfleet and Chadwell all being very busy.  Chadwell saw the most people we think they have ever seen with 11 people being served in their two hour session!!

All in all, in terms of people using our foodbank we are 9% down on the same period last year.

Sadly we are also 15% down in terms of stock and we have purchased 30% more food items than the same period last year. The cost of living is having a large effect on us all!

We had some of our lovely volunteers based at Pets @ Home, giving out leaflets about our work and encouraging people to donate if they can. They collected an amazing 108kg and interacted with some of the customers sharing about our work. A massive "Thank You" to Linda and Karen, who are really helping us, boost donations at our store collections.

With our stock levels down by 15%, the store collections are essential to maintaining our stock levels to maintain our service. If you would like to help or join one of our teams at any of our future collections we would love to see you there!

Our store collections scheduled are listed below:

Monday 15th - Saturday 20th September at Morrisons Grays

Friday 19th and Saturday 20th September at Asda Tilbury

Saturday 11th October at Sainsburys Chafford Hundred

Thursday 27th - Saturday 29th November at Tesco Lakeside

If you are able to help or want to find out more please contact: warehouse@thurrock.foodbank.org.uk

As our shelves are currently looking a little empty, we are still appealing for donations to help replenish our stocks:
The items we have lower stocks on are:
Tinned Meats (curry's, Stew, Spaghetti Bolognese etc)
Long Life Milk,
Desserts (Custard, Rice Pudding, Jellies, Sponge Puddings)
Mash Potato

Fruit Juice/ Squash
Tinned Fish

Crisps
Chocolate
Tea & Coffee
Cleaning Products
Toiletries

We really value your support with any donations whether it be by a financial donation or a food donation, we really do appreciate any donation however large or small, as the saying goes. "Every Little Helps" It all goes towards our work seeking to bless the community of Thurrock
