Eastern Thurrock Beat the Street

A friendly reminder that the Eastern Thurrock Beat the Street initiative has now launched across Stanford-le-Hope, Corringham, Horndon on the Hill and East Tilbury. There’s still time to sign up as a team or individual here: Eastern Thurrock | Beat the Street and earn points whilst walking, cycling, or scooting across your local community.

You can use a mobile phone or drop into one of our distribution centres to pick up a game card. Distribution centres are listed on our Beat the Street Game Map (note that local school aged children in the game area up to Year 8 should have already received one through their school).

Beat the Street is a fun and free community-wide walking, wheeling, and cycling challenge that increases physical activity, improves health and wellbeing, strengthens community connections, and encourages people of all ages to travel more actively in their everyday lives. It involves the local area being ‘gamified’ with beat boxes on street furniture such as lampposts so that you can earn points by tapping in on each beat box within the hour when you have travelled between them by walking, cycling or scooting.

You may have already received an email about this from our partners at Intelligent Health (Jenny Cottrell) who are coordinating the game with support from our game coordinator Jay Robinson from charity ATF.

We’d love for you to take part now before the ‘game’ concludes on 4thNovember.

Please do also share this information with your friends, family, colleagues, and other community contacts.
